Women’s golf in second following opening round in Puerto Rico

HUMACAO, Puerto Rico — The Little Rock women’s golf team turned in a solid opening round Tuesday, helping the Trojans to a second-place position on the team leaderboard at the Puerto Rico Classic after one day. Little Rock fired a 2-over (290) to trail only California Baptist (7-under) after the first round.

Five of the six Trojans finished the first round in the Top 20 on the player leaderboard, and all were in the Top 40 as Tuesday’s round concluded.

Anna Dawson, T-4th – 2-under (70) … Dawson’s first round included six birdies, three in the front and three in the back nine. She also finished par on eight holes.

Fehild Graesel, T-12th – 1-over (73) … Graesel made four birdies, including three in four holes on the back nine, while hitting par on 10 others.

Katja Mueller, T-12th – 1-over (73) … Mueller hit six birdies and six pars in her opening round. Birdies on 16 and 18 were bookends around a double bogey on the 17th hole.

Agatha Alesson, T-20th – 2-over (74) … Alesson made four birdies and 10 pars but also had a pair of double bogeys in the first round.

Eleonore Aernouts, T-20th – 2-over (74) … Aernouts made four birdies and finished par on nine other holes Tuesday.

Viktoria Krnacova, T-32nd – 4-over (76) … Krnacova birdied two holes and made par on 10 others in her opening round. 

Western Carolina (4-over) is third after the first round, while Seattle U and South Dakota round out the Top 5. Wednesday’ second round is scheduled for an 8:30 am (local) start, 6:30 am CST.
