Women Can Run marking 15th year

Registration is open for the free Women Can Run/Walk training clinics planned across the state.

The clinics are scheduled to begin the week of Sunday, March 4 and culminate with a 5K graduation run on Saturday, May 12.

Women Run Arkansas, an RRCA organization, was formed in 2000 in response to the need for a statewide women’s running and walking club.  The mission of WRA is to address the special needs of women’s fitness, while promoting health and fitness through running and walking.

Linda Starr, owner of The Sporty Runner in Downtown Conway, is the state clinic director.

More than 40 towns in Arkansas participate in the 10-week program.

This year the featured speaker will be Elaine Doll Dunn, cancer survivor, marathon runner (she ran 26.2 marathons in 2000), author of “Gotta Run… Life is a Marathon… So Double-Tie Your Shoes” and director of the Leading Ladies Marathon in South Dakota.

The event benefits the Children’s Tumor Foundation & Neurofibromatosis Research.
