14 Aug 2024 Trojans head to Jonesboro for season opener
LITTLE ROCK — The 2024 season is officially underway as the Trojans hit the road to Jonesboro, Arkansas, for a season opener against the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
Series History
Thursday’s match will mark the 28th meeting between these programs, with the last official meeting resulting in a 0-0 tie on September 4, 2022. The Trojans currently trail in the series with a record of 8-13-6.
Scouting the Red Wolves
The Red Wolves are coming off a 4-win season last year, posting a 4-8-4 record. Arkansas State ended their season with a 3-game losing streak.
What to Expect
Captain Abbie Smith will play her last season opener in the Little Rock jersey after having played the last four years. Smith and fellow senior Camryn Jacobs are the last remaining players to have played in the Sun Belt before Little Rock transitioned to the Ohio Valley Conference. Amaya Arias will look to defend her Second Team All-OVC title and build on her success for her junior campaign. Last year’s freshman sensation Kaitlin Graeber is poised for a huge run in her sophomore season after leading the team in minutes played last season.
Setting the Standard
Little Rock has four big games slated to start the year against Arkansas State, Arizona State, Grand Canyon, and SMU, all on the road. After making a semi-final run in the OVC Tournament last season, Coach Kelly Farrell looks to build on her success in year three as head coach.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+. Follow along on social media for live updates.
