Player realizes dream

Softball player Mallory Kirkemier’s dream of playing on the college level is coming true.

Mallory recently signed a letter to play for the Central Baptist College Lady Mustangs.

“I am very excited to have Mallory,” said CBC Softball Coach Crystal Robinson. “She is a great person, as well as athlete. CBC will be honored to have her.”

A daughter of Vickey and Steven Kirkemier of Conway, Mallory is a senior at Conway High School, where she plays on the school softball team.

“I think softball is her life,” said Vickey.

Mallory has played since she was 8 and was a member of the Extreme Softball Team until she “aged out” over the summer. Before then, the team traveled to numerous tournaments, including games in Colorado and Virginia.

Mallory received offers from other schools but fell in love with the CBC campus when she toured, according to Vickey. “She loves Conway and coach Crystal Robinson and looks forward to playing for her.”

Mallory is considering a career in business.

Robinson added that Mallory “is a fantastic pitcher, with great movement pitches and is always willing to make changes and go the extra mile to do better.”

Vickey added that playing college ball has always been her daughter’s goal. “We are very proud of her. She’s worked very hard.”
