NPC men’s soccer ends season in semifinals

Park Hills, Mo. — The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s soccer team (10-3-4) fell to East Central College (ECC) in the NJCAA Central District semifinal hosted by Mineral Area College on Nov. 2, 3-2.

In a back-and-forth defensive battle, early, ECC lit up the scoreboard first on a corner kick to take a 1-0 advantage with 29:03 remaining in the first half. NPC freshman Felix Rocca (Leipzig, Germany) equalized the game, 1-1, with 14:13 remaining on a cross-field strike into the left corner of the net. The Falcons responded quickly, regaining the lead for good on a goal with 12:20 to play. 

In the second half, ECC struck again, early, padding its lead with a third goal with 42:30 remaining. NPC got back on the board with Rocca’s second goal of the game with 15:49 remaining. Despite a late push by NPC in the final seconds, the Nighthawks were unable to overcome the deficit, ending its historic second season.
