Mustang men come back to draw with Owls

FULTON, Mo. — Playing an American Midwest Conference match for just the second time, Central Baptist College men’s soccer took on the Owls of William Woods today at Firley Field. CBC (4-7-2, 0-0-2 AMC) trailed 1-0 at the half and 2-0 early in the second before coming back to draw 2-2 with WWU (8-3-2, 1-0-1 AMC).

Hugh McAuley scored for the second time this season and then later assisted on Joe McElhinney’s fourth of the year. Jasper Gadellaa kept CBC in the match, stopping 11 Owls attempts on net.

WWU took the lead in the 24th minute and carried that 1-0 lead into halftime. In the 50th minute they extended the lead to 2-0 before McAuley scored on a beautiful free kick in the 59th minute to make it 2-1. McElhinney would tie the score in the 65th on a free kick by McAuley and CBC held on for another draw in a conference match.
