Jingle Bell Run/Walk set Dec. 7

The Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run/Walk in Little Rock is just around the corner on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Register a team by visiting arkansasjinglebellrun.org or by calling the local office at 531.664.4591. This community event is a great way to kick off the holiday season by doing something fun to fight the nation’s leading cause of disability.

Volunteer organizers expect more than 1,300 runners and walkers to take part in the Little Rock event, and they aim to raise $100,000. The festivities begin when registration opens at 9:30 a.m. at the Clinton Presidential Library. The race begins at 11 a.m.

Arthritis is much more widespread than imagined, affecting 53 million Americans, roughly one out of five adults, and approximately 300,000 children. In Arkansas, more than 653,000 adults and over 3,000 children have a doctor-diagnosed form of arthritis. Twelve-year-old Hannah, the 2013 Junior Honoree for Little Rock, is one of the local faces of this disease.

As the nation’s largest holiday run/walk event, the Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis offers a five kilometer timed run and a one-mile fun run.

Statistics show that walking for 30 minutes regularly, can greatly reduce your risk for certain forms of arthritis. So sign up and join one of the more than 150 Jingle Bell Run/Walks for Arthritis nationwide and spread some cheer by helping to prevent arthritis this holiday season.

Arthritis is the nation’s leading cause of disability. The Arthritis Foundation (arthritis.org) is committed to raising awareness and reducing the impact of this serious, painful and unacceptable disease, which can severely damage joints and rob people of living life to its fullest. The Foundation funds life-changing research that has restored mobility in patients for more than six decades; fights for health care policies that improve the lives of the millions who live with arthritis; and partners with families to provide empowering programs and information.
