Family Track Night sees record number participating

Family Track Night, presented by Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center, recently wrapped up its summer session.

“This is such a great event for kids and families, plus it is free,” said Amanda Castillo, marketing coordinator at the fitness center. She started the program five years ago. “It has grown tremendously. I absolutely love watching all the kiddos find their love of running.”

The program is a partnership with the Conway Running Club.

“This is the fifth year Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center has offered this free and fun event for kids and families.”

Family Track Night was held every Monday in June at the University of Central Arkansas Track. The following track events were offered and kiddos could participate in one or all events: 5OM, 100M, 200M, 400M (full lap around track), 800M and 1600M.

Each week, participants ran various distances to prepare for the Family Track Night Celebration & Fun Meet on June 26. “We had a record year with 101 kiddos participating. The first 75 participants received a T-shirt and kiddos received ribbons weekly for each event they participated in. On the final night, kiddos also received a trophy and smoothies compliments of Smoothie King Conway.”

This was the fifth year for the Family Track Night, presented by Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center.

Castillo offered a thank you to Roe Henderson of Shelter Insurance and Jason Matyja of Arkansas Fitness Repair for sponsoring this year.

Plans are already in the works for next year’s program.
