How we met: Introduced by common friends — Van Buren County Judge Roger Hooper and his wife, Jeanie. They knew both of us and kept insisting we needed to meet. Our first date was a double date with them.

The proposal: We had only been dating a month when I asked her to marry me. We both already knew we were meant to be together. Nine months later we married.

Wedding bells: June 11, 2016.

Children: Larry has two children — son Ryan Davis in Portland, Ore., and daughter Sara Woods and her husband Jonathan (and granddaughter Anna) who live in Ada, Okla. Carlene has a daughter, Meredith Post and her husband Bryan (and two grandsons Caden Malott and Conner Post) in Greenbrier.

Family activities enjoyed together: Spending time with each other traveling. Spending time with our kids and grandkids. Watching sports — live or on TV. We have a cuddle chair at home in which we watch TV together.

More information: Never say never. We both found a perfect spouse in our 60s — God’s plan for us may surprise us in a wonderful way sometimes.
