Aquakids win medley relay at 2016 Elite Pro-Am meet in Texas

Nine Aquakids swimmers recently competed in the 2016 Pro-Am Elite Meet in Lewisville, Texas.

Coach Tony Marleneanu led a young team this year, including a 12-year-old and two 14-year-old swimmers. The team of Aaron Rieth, Jackson Wiedower, AJ Mainord and Ethan Marotte won the 200 medley relay. This is the first championship event win in the history for the Aquakids at the Elite Pro-Am.

With only five girls and four boys, Aquakids girls finished 20th and the boys finished ninth, placing 13th out of 35 teams in overall combined team scores.

Aquakids individual performances included:

Brooklyn Anderson: 100 breast AA time, 200 breast – AA time, 400 IM AAA time, 200 IM AAA time, 100 back – AAA time, 200 back – AAAA time and made “C” final.

Elam Fulton: 50 free AA time and made “D” final, 100 free – AA time, 200 free – AA time, 100 breast – A time, 200 breast – A time and made “D” final.

Emily Holman: 50 free – A time, 100 free – A time.

AJ Mainord: 200 back – AAA time and made “C” final, 100 breast – AAAA time – made “A” final and finished fifth, 200 breast – AAA time – made “B” final, 100 fly – AAA time and made “B” final, 200 fly – AAA time and made “D” final, 200 IM – AAA time.

Ethan Marotte: 50 free – AAA time – made “C” final, 100 free – AAA time – made “C” final, 100 breast – AAA time, 200 breast – AAA time, 100 fly  AAA time – made “D” final, 200 fly AA time – made “D” final.

Aaron Rieth: 100 free – AAA time, 200 free – AAA time and made “B” final, 100 back – AA time and made “A” final, 200 back – AAA time and made “B” final, 200 fly – AAA time – Made “B” final, 200 IM AAA Time and made “B” final, 400 IM – AAAA time and made “A” final and finished fourth.

Adrienne Robinson: 100 free – A time, 500 free – AAA time, 1650 free – AA time, 200 breast  – A time.

Bailey Roscoe: 50 free AA time, 100 free – AA time, 200 free – AA time, 100 fly – A time, 100 back – A time, 200 back – A time, 200 fly – A time and made “D” final.

Jackson Wiedower: 50 free – AA time, 100 free – A time, 200 free – A time, 100 back – A time.

Team records:

Emily Holman, Brooklyn Anderson, Elam Fulton and Bailey Roscoe set a new team record for the girls 800 free Relay.

Aaron Rieth, AJ Mainord, Ethan Marotte, and Jackson Wiedower broke the record in the 400 free relay, 800 free Relay, 200 Medley Relay and 400 Relay.

Brooklyn Anderson set new team records in the 100 back and 200 back for 11- to 12-year-old girls.

AJ Mainord set new team records in the 50 breastroke, 100 breastroke and 200 breast for the 15-18 year-old boys. AJ became the first Aquakid swimmer to go under one minute in the 100 breast.

Ethan Marotte set team records in the 50 free and 50 fly for the 13-14 year old boys. The 50 free was a seven-year record.

Aaron Rieth set a new team record in the 200 IM for the 15-18 year old boys.

State records:  

Brooklyn Anderson smashed the 200 back record for 11-12 year old girls by two seconds.

Qualifier times:

Ethan Marotte qualified for Sectional competition. Brooklyn Anderson qualified for Sectionals and Zones. AJ Mainord qualified for NCSA Junior Nationals and Futures Qualifiers.

The drop of the meet goes to Adrienne Robinson, who dropped 14 seconds in the 1650 free.

Brooklyn Anderson, who broke the state record in the 200 Back for 11- to 12-year-olds.

Nationally ranked Aquakids:

Brooklyn Anderson – 24th in the 200 back – 2.10.27 and 58th in the 400 IM 4.48.91.

AJ Mainord – 57th in the 100 breast – 57.70 and 99th in the 200 breast – 2.08.08.

Ethan Marotte – 81st in the 50 free – 22.52.

This was senior Elam Fulton’s last time representing Aquakids at the Elite Pro-Am. She had a great meet with excellent times in all the events she swam.

Of the 49 individual swims, 29 of them were personal bests. After three full days of swimming, Brooklyn Anderson, AJ Mainord, Ethan Marotte, Aaron Rieth and Bailey Roscoe still made finals on Sunday.
