Women Bike Arkansas plans informational meeting June 22

An informational meeting for the 2015 Women Bike Arkansas is planned 6 p.m. Monday, June 22, at Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center.

Women Bike Arkansas is a free bicycling clinic offered to women in the area to gain the ability to participate in the Conway Fall Classic.

“This is the second year I have done this clinic,” said director Tara Leamon. “Last year, we averaged 30 participants each night of riding. It’s for all levels of cyclists, from those that don’t know how to even get on a bike properly, brake or even shift to those that ride regularly and confidently.”

No bike is needed for the informational meeting.

The clinic is planned 6 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays beginning June 25 and ending Sept. 17 at the McGee Community Center in Conway.

The Conway Fall Classic on Saturday, Sept. 19, is the final ride or graduation for clinic participants.

There are three training levels available, including 20 miles (Spin Cycles), 40 miles (Biker Chicks) and 60 miles (Pedal Pushers).

“The informational meeting is where they will learn a lot more about the clinic and will be guided to which group would be best for each participant. No need to register, but each night we will take attendance. All correspondence is done on our Facebook page, Women Bike Arkansas.

The three levels I have listed are the three available levels that each participant will work toward accomplishing by the end of clinic for the Conway Fall Classic.”
