Warriors end season in SAA Tourney quarterfinals

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — RV/#23 Rhodes (Tenn.), the top seed in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament, defeated No. 8-seed Hendrix, 62-44, on Sunday in the tournament quarterfinals inside Mallory Gymnasium.

Hendrix (8-16) led 8-7 after the first quarter and entered halftime tied with the Lynx at 26.

Kennedi Burns

Rhodes (21-2), which used a 7-0 spurt midway through the third period to build an 11-point edge, led 44-36 with 10 minutes to play. Kennedi Burns scored five-straight points to bring her team’s deficit to four at 48-44, but the Warriors went scoreless for the final 5:52.

Alli Mayeux and A’niya Lagarde each tallied a double-double for the Lynx. Mayeux ended with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Lagarde had 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Catherine Althoff had 12 points and nine rebounds for Rhodes, which shot 35.4% (23-of-65) overall, 25% (5-of-20) from 3 and 68.8% (11-of-16) from the foul line.

Burns finished with 13 points and eight boards. Madi Pierce recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds, her eighth double-double this season and 11th of her career. Alicia McCloria added eight points.
