Walker earns All-America honors

CONWAY — University of Central Arkansas defensive end David Walker was named Tuesday to the 2023 Stats Perform FCS All-America Team for the second straight season, his third national honor of the season.

Walker, a 6-foot-2, 260-pound junior from Stuttgart, Ark., and the UAC Defensive Player of the Year, was a first-team selection by Stats Perform.

Walker led the UAC in tackles for loss and sacks with 18.0 and 8.5, respectively. He was eighth in the nation at the FCS level in tackles for loss and 20th in the nation in sacks. Walker finished the season with 57 total tackles, including 33 solo stops. He broke the school record for single-game tackles for loss with 6.5 against Tarleton State, a game in which he had a season-high 13 tackles.

Walker was a six-time All-American a year ago as a sophomore and a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award. He was also on the Buchanan Watch list this season.
