Vehner breaks HU Triple Jump Mark at Pittsburg State Meet

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Harding sophomore Karyna Vehner broke her own school record in the triple jump and was one of two Lady Bisons to earn NCAA provisional marks at the Wendy’s Pittsburg State Invitational on Saturday inside the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Vehner placed fourth in the triple jump with a provisional mark and school record 11.93m (39-1.75). She is ranked 20th in Division II. Senior Mariah Miller was seventh in the event at 11.55m (37-10.75).

Newcomer Omolara Ogunmakinju placed eighth in the 200 meters in an NCAA provisional time of 24.81 seconds. She is ranked 33rd in the event in Division II.

Harding also had two second-place finishes.

Harding’s distance medley relay team of Cassidy Graham, Omolara Ogunmakinju, Lisa Retailleau and Dinah Winders placed second in 12:07.87.

In the high jump, Ally Cheek finished second with a clearance of 1.60m (5-3).

Harding is back in action next on Feb. 1-3 at the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Northwest Missouri State at Hughes Fieldhouse.
