UCA to play three televised games

The University of Central Arkansas Bears will play at least three televised football games this fall, the Southland Conference has announced.

The league announced its television schedule for the first four weeks of the regular season, along with select games throughout the rest of the season. Matchups in the early portion of the schedule are set for broadcast across ESPN3, Fox Sports Net and American Sports Network.

UCA’s second game of the season, on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Oklahoma State, will be broadcast on Fox Sports net beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Bears’ game at Northwestern State on Saturday, Sept. 26 in Natchitoches, La., will be on ESPN3, with a 6 p.m. kickoff. UCA at Houston Baptist on Saturday, Oct. 10 in Houston will be shown on ASN.

For games on Oct. 3 and beyond, the conference will reveal most television matchups 12 days prior to kickoff. This will allow for the best matchups to be selected each week for various partners. In previous years, the SLC announced all television selections prior to the season, except for wild card choices in the final weeks of the season.

ESPN plans to exercise its option to make the initial choice most weeks, placing a top-tier game on ESPN3, its multi-screen network. The Southland Conference on American Sports Network will then make its selection, with those games syndicated throughout the region and beyond. Cox Sports Television is set to air a package of games as well, but those dates and times are still to be determined.

The Bears open the 2015 season on Thursday, Sept. 3 at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.
