Trojans finish tied for sixth at Marino Classic

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Little Rock Trojans men’s golf finished tied for sixth place at the Michael A. Marino Classic, closing the tournament at three-over par at the historic Dunes Golf & Beach Club.

Little Rock posted rounds of +3, -6 and +6 over the three-day event to finish at +3, competing in a strong NCAA Division I field hosted by Coastal Carolina University. North Carolina State University claimed the team title at 15-under, while University of Louisville finished second at 11-under.

Trojan Leaderboard

Elliott Simonsen and Viggo Talasmaki led the Trojans, each finishing tied for 17th place at one-under par.

Simonsen closed strong with a two-under 70 in the final round, while Talasmaki finished at one-under despite a final-round 74.

Ed Featherstone finished 30th at three-over, followed by Mark Stockdale in 40th at five-over.

Rhett South placed 48th at six-over to round out the team scoring.

Competing as an individual, Alexander Rowland finished at 23-over.

Looking Ahead

The Trojans showed their ability to compete with one of the strongest fields of the spring, highlighted by a six-under second round that vaulted them up the leaderboard.

Little Rock will look to build on that momentum next week at The Goodwin, hosted by Stanford University from March 26–28 in Palo Alto, Calif.
