SHERWOOD — On March 2 Sylvan Hills High School announced the hiring of Jason Houle as its new head football coach starting in the 2023-2024 academic year. Houle currently works at Sylvan Hills High School as the ALE teacher.

Coach Jason Houle

Coach Houle is a 2003 graduate of Sylvan Hills High School. He has 16 years of coaching experience, including the past four years at Sylvan Hills. He served most recently as varsity offensive coordinator. Prior to Sylvan Hills, he was the varsity defensive coordinator at North Little Rock High School.

“Having had the opportunity to coach Houle when he was a Sylvan Hills student to this time, when he is able to fulfill his life-long dream of becoming Sylvan Hills’ head football coach, makes me very proud,” said Sylvan Hills athletic director, Denny Tipton. “He loves our school, the students, and this community, and I am looking forward to seeing him lead our football program with passion and loyalty.

When it comes to winning, Coach Houle is quite familiar with what it takes to be a champion as a coach and as an athlete. He’s coached teams to four state championships in multiple sports. And he was part of the Sylvan Hills High baseball team when they won the 2003 State Championship.

“I am very blessed to have this opportunity to be the Head football Coach at Sylvan Hills,” says Coach Houle. “This community and school have always been my home and I look forward to working with our great coaches and players to build a program that the community can be proud of. Go Bears!”
