Strong first half not enough as Warriors fall to Dallas

CONWAY — Hendrix fell to the Dallas Crusaders 69-64 on Dec. 20 at Grove Gymnasium.

The Warriors went into halftime with a commanding 36-24 lead, but struggled to maintain their form in the second half while Dallas shot their way back into the contest by scoring 30 in the third quarter.

Riley Brady’s jumper at the 5:06 mark in the fourth quarter brought Hendrix within two (57-55) before the Crusaders scored the next six to build their lead up to eight. The Warriors would claw their way back to cut the lead to four late in the waning minutes, but it would be the closest they got to Dallas before the final horn sounded.

Hendrix shot 36.4% from the field and finished 7-of-16 (43.8%) from 3PT.

Brady led all scorers with a season-high 19 points while recording her third double-double of the season with 14 boards.

Ava Knoedl backed that up with 17 points and 5 boards with 2 assists.

Simone Shields was the third Warrior to finish in double-figures with 12 points and 5 boards.

The loss drops Hendrix to 2-7 on the season, and they will have a week’s rest before returning to Grove Gymnasium to host #23 Illinois Wesleyan on Dec. 29. Tip-off is set for 11:00 AM.
