St. Joseph cross country teams earn honors at district meet

The St. Joseph senior boys team won first place in the 5K in the 1A/2A 5 North District Meet in Quitman.

St. Joseph School’s Cross Country teams competed in the 1A/2A 5 North District Meet in Quitman on Nov. 4. Other competing schools included Abundant Life, Bigelow, Conway Christian, Maumelle Charter, Quitman, Rural Special and Greers Ferry Westside. 

The Top Ten runners on each team were medalists.

The St. Joseph senior boys team won first place in the 5K. Medalists included Will Schichtl, third place with a time of 18:22; Truman Martin, fourth place at 18:26; Christian Skinner in sixth place at 18:39; and Cole Garner, 10th place at 18:59.

St. Joseph’s junior boys also won first place. Ethan Hambuchen was the fifth place medalist in the 2-mile run with a time of 13:27. Cole Harness came in eighth with a time of 13:39. Ninth place went to Christian Stobaugh at 13:48.

The junior girls team earned second place in the 2-mile run. Bailey Pope finished in fifth place with a time of 15:43. Kate Nabholz was in seventh place at 16:13, while Sarah Beth Sammons was a fraction of a second behind in eighth place. Libby Loynachan finished in 10th place at 16:29.
