Softball season ends in NAIA opening round

SAN ANTONIO — Looking to stay in the NAIA Opening Round, Central Baptist College took on the #19 Middle Georgia State Knights May 13 in an elimination game at St. Mary’s Softball Stadium. CBC (31-27) led early but couldn’t stop MGA (39-9), seeing their season come to an end by a score of 9-1 in six innings.

Abi West had the lone multi-hit game for the Mustangs with Taviah Bradley, Kinley Johnson and Anna Marie Sternisha all recording one hit. West gave CBC the lead with a single in the second that followed a double by Johnson. MGA scored two in the third, one in the fourth, four in the fifth and two in the sixth to end the game in a run rule.

  • 31 wins mark the third straight 30-plus win season for CBC
  • CBC had 451 hits this season, the seventh most in a single season
  • The Mustangs had 92 doubles, the ninth most in a single season
  • CBC drew 155 walks, the eighth most in a single season
