Registration open for youth basketball program

Registrations are being accepted for the youth basketball program sponsored by the Faulkner County Boys and Girls Club.

According to executive director Robert Wright, the program includes teams for young people in grades first through 12th. Last year’s program had 35 teams and 365 participants.

The club’s Bob Nabholz unit, located at 1313 Deer St., in Downtown Conway will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for basketball registration only.

Volunteers are being sought to assist with the program, including coaches, referees and clock-keepers.

The season will begin in early January and be completed with makeup games and a tournament before spring break in March. Grades first through fourth will play at the Bob Nabholz Unit. Teams for grades fifth through 12th will play in the Old Gym at Conway High School-East. Practice is typically held on Saturday, with games Monday through Thursday.

The deadline to register is Tuesday, Nov. 15. The cost is $45, which includes an annual membership to the club ($25) and basketball registration ($20). The cost for current club members is only $20.
