Read Across America

On Friday, March 1, Wooster Elementary celebrated Read Across America Day — and they truly did reach out all over the U.S. to other elementary schools to discuss literacy through classroom Skype sessions.

March 2 is Dr. Seuss’s birthday, so the two events together have helped children everywhere realize that reading is not only important, but a lot of fun, too.

In addition to the Skype times, set up by third grade literacy teacher Jessica Moreland, there were also other fun activities planned like a Dr. Seuss characters costume contest and a school-wide book swap.

The PTO also provided a special treat of blue Jell-O with “fish” in keeping with Seuss’s book “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.”
