Ranch Ride scheduled Saturday

The second annual Crain Buick GMC Ranch Ride, a charity cycling event benefitting Soaring Wings Ranch Christian Home for children, is quickly pedaling into Central Arkansas.

As race director Jon Priest puts it, “Soaring Wings Ranch is a place for children who need a chance in life.”

Because Soaring Wings operates 100 percent debt-free, Priest said all funds raised by The Ranch Ride will be channeled directly toward improving the lives of children who call the Ranch “home.”

“It’s one of the most direct ways to improve the life of a kid,” Priest said. “You don’t need a particular talent or skill set, and there’s no long-standing commitment. Basically, we’re asking people to make a difference in the lives of children by simply participating. Just by showing up you can know you’ve done something special.”

The Ranch Ride will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 2. Cyclists will be able to participate in one of two rides: 34 miles or 54 miles. There will also be a four-mile Family Fun Ride available for children accompanied by one or more parent, which will begin at 10 a.m.

The event will be held at the Conway Human Development Center Park. Registration is $40 for individuals and $70 for families. There will be family activities available for spectators at the finishing chute on race day.
