NPC Men’s Soccer earns national ranking

HOT SPRINGS — National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s soccer received its first national ranking in program history this week, named No. 19 by the NJCAA for its success on the field.

NPC opened its season with a thrilling 3-2 victory over preseason No. 13 Pearl River Community College. The Nighthawks followed up with a 2-0 home win over Northwest Mississippi Community College and a 1-0 road triumph over Paris Junior College Sunday to close out the first NJCAA reporting week of the season.

“What an amazing start to our men’s soccer season it has been here at NPC,” NPC Athletic Director Rich Thompson said. “Our program is strong thanks to Coach Diego and Coach Pedro’s leadership. We are looking forward to a long, successful season full of quality soccer. This is only the beginning for our talented group.”

The Nighthawks recently began their third season in program history. Last year, NPC won the NJCAA Region II Championship and competed in the NJCAA Central District semifinals.

“Our goal this season is to get national recognition,” head coach Diego Figueroa said. “We want to make it to nationals.”
