National Walk @ Lunch Day April 24

Several local observances are planned in conjunction with National Walk @ Lunch Day, which is designed to complement — not compete — with an individual’s busy lifestyle.

National Walk @ Lunch Day is the perfect start for a new daily walking routine, helping to improve health step by step.

On Wednesday, April 24, local businesses — both large and small — and state legislatures across the nation will encourage employees to wear comfortable shoes and take a walk at lunch.

Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center is sending certified personal trainers out to lead free warm-ups and 20-minute walk sessions hosted at various locations throughout Conway including Acxiom, Hewlett-Packard, Conway Regional Health System, University of Central Arkansas Student Center and Downtown Conway. The community is invited to attend the walks at Conway Regional Health System, Downtown (Toad Suck Square) and the UCA Student Center.

The Conway Regional Health System walk will begin at the Women’s Center and continue to Laurel Park beginning at 12:15 p.m. with Megan Ryan, ACSM certified personal trainer.

The Downtown walk will meet at the Kris Allen Stage at noon for a walk with Mallory Lefler, ACE certified personal trainer. The UCA walk will meet at the student center at noon and will be led by faculty members Kim Eskola and Ary Servedio.

Drawings will be held at each event for participants. Prizes have been donated from the Conway Women’s Med Spa, Pitza42, The Sporty Runner and Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center.
