MORRILTON — School spirit and a love for county and country were in the air on June 13 at Devil Dog Arena in Morrilton when more than 400 alumni gathered.

Class of 1964

For 25 years, South Conway County School District schoolmates have looked forward to an annual class reunion where they swap stories of high school pranks, dances, first kisses and lifelong memories.

Class of 1976

In 2001, three women planned the first Devil Dogs 50-and-over reunion.

Phyllis Scroggin McKiuin, Class of 1962, Barbara Turner Young, Class of 1959, and Eadie Wood, Class of 1950, worked to contact former classmates, and 51 people showed up.

The highly anticipated reunion has grown every year since, and 412 people attended last month, which is the largest crowd so far. 

This year’s reunion coincides with the 200th anniversary of Conway County and America’s 250th birthday.

Students who participated in the EAST program at Morrilton High School this year created a slideshow about the history of schools in Conway County, which was enjoyed during lunch.
