Little Rock claims OVC Women’s Golf title

TUNICA, Mississippi — The Little Rock Women’s Golf team led from start to finish to win the 2024 OVC Championship at Tunica National, the first conference title for the program since 1999 and third overall. It’s the first OVC title for the team, competing in the league for just the second season.

Little Rock finished with a three-day total of 911 (+47) with individual rounds of 302, 305, and 304. Morehead State, who won the title a year ago, settled for a runner-up finish, eight strokes behind Little Rock. The Trojans got out to a nine-stroke lead after the first round before seeing Morehead State get as close as three on the second day before settling for a five-stroke margin. On the final day, Little Rock was never threatened and rode a consistent round to the title.

OVC CHAMPIONSHIP – FINAL RESULTS

Little Rock earns an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship with the OVC title, and the 2024 field will be unveiled during a selection show Wednesday, April 24 at 1 pm on the Golf Channel. Regional tournament will be held May 6-8 at the following sites: Auburn, Alabama; Lansing, Michigan; Bermuda Run, North Carolina; Las Vegas, Nevada; Bryan, Texas; and Cle Elum, Washington.

Anna Dawson (+7) won the overall championship, finishing one shot ahead of teammate Eleonore Aernouts (+8). Fehild Graesel was sixth, Katja Mueller was 16th and Agatha Alesson was 18th. After the tournament, Dawson and Aernouts were chosen for the All-Tournament Team, Dawson picked up the OVC Player of the Year Award, and coach Jenna Birch was handed the Bobby Nichols OVC Coach of the Year trophy.
