Kalinowski wins in No. 1 singles and doubles

CONWAY — Hendrix’s Agustin Kalinowski played his first collegiate doubles and singles matches Feb. 11 against NCAA Division II Dallas Baptist (Texas) inside Hatcher Tennis Center. The result: 2-0.

Kalinowski paired with Eric Meyne to win on the one-line against the Patriots’ tandem of Gabe Garrido and Grant McKenzie, 8-5. The Warriors’ No. 3 doubles team of Micah Moore and Elijah Pierce defeated Roman Hill and Will Fiala, also by the score of 8-5.

After dropping the first set of No. 1 singles, 7-5, Kalinowski rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the second to win 6-4 before taking out McKenzie, 10-7, in the third.

Three Hendrix freshmen – Kalinowski, Pierce and Brayden Bolch – made their collegiate debuts in Friday’s season-opener.

Five Dallas Baptist (1-3) players won their singles matches in straight sets, as the Pioneers defeated the Warriors, 6-3.

Hendrix (0-2) lost its second dual match Friday against NAIA member John Brown (Ark.), 5-3.

Kalinowski and Meyne picked up their second win of the day in No. 1 doubles after defeating the Golden Eagles’ Hudson Dick and Woody Woodring, 8-3. The Warriors’ No. 2 doubles team of Bolch and Connor Brooks dropped Logan Wheeler and Blake Cunningham of John Brown (3-1), 8-6.

In No. 2 singles, Hendrix’s Elijah Pierce defeated Wheeler in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-1.

Meyne won the first set of No. 3 singles, 6-3.

The Warriors travel to Webster (Mo.) on Feb. 18. First serve is set for 7 p.m. CT.
