02 Apr 2025 Hill hired to join AAA staff
North Little Rock — The Arkansas Activities Association has hired Dax Hill to the role of associate executive director of officials. Hill will replace Don Brodell, who is retiring on June 30, 2025, after 25 years of service to the AAA.

Hill’s hire was approved by the AAA board of directors in a regularly scheduled meeting on March 13, 2025. He joined the AAA with 35 years of experience in the state, and he first started officiating while in college at the University of Central Arkansas in 1990. He quickly rose in the ranks and began officiating at the college level, culminating in becoming an SEC football official in 2013. Hill officiated two SEC football championship games, as well as both the Fiesta Bowl and, most recently, the 2023 Cotton Bowl.
“I’m excited about being a part of the Arkansas Activities Association staff,” Hill said. “My career in education and officiating has prepared me for the challenges ahead in this position.”
Hill served as an assignor for 13 years in Arkansas, establishing relationships with officials, coaches, and athletic directors. Hill was inducted into the Arkansas Officials Association Hall of Fame in 2023. “We are thrilled to be able to hire an individual with the experience and track record of Dax,” AAA executive director Lance Taylor said. “His knowledge of officiating, including his use of technology, is going to be instrumental in training the officials of the AOA and ensuring we are putting everyone in a position to be successful.”
Hill has spent the past 25 years as a teacher at both Conway and Vilonia public schools. “I’m looking forward to improving officiating in all sports,” Hill said. “The experience of athletic competition is better when the officiating is at a high level.”
