Harding’s Cross Country runner earns All-Central Region

SEARCY — Harding junior Luke Walling earned NCAA Division II All-Central Region cross-country honors Monday from the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Walling, a native of Smithville, Arkansas, placed 20th of nearly 200 runners at the Central Region Meet, hosted Saturday by Missouri Southern State in Joplin, Missouri. His 10K time was 31 minutes, 9.1 seconds.

The top 25 finishers earned All-Central Region.

Walling had previously finished 57th and 28th in his two prior Central Region competitions.

He is the first Harding men’s cross-country runner to earn All-Region since Lucas Goodspeed in 2015 and only the third since Harding moved to the Central Region in 2012.
