Van Gundy was instrumental in helping the Bears go 2-0 last week, earning a shutout over Bellarmine on Thursday before defeating Eastern Kentucky on Sunday. The junior midfielder scored two goals and logged an assist over the two games, tallying five points in two matches. Both of her goals were game-winners, as she scored the first goal in the 2-0 win over the Knights and netted the second goal in the 2-1 triumph over the Colonels.

The Flower Mound, Texas native is the team’s leading scorer this season, tallying five goals and four assists for a total of 14 points. Van Gundy has three goals in ASUN games, and has posted all four of her assists during league play, becoming a driving force for the current second seed. She is the third Bear to win a weekly award this season, with Sydney Brough also claiming a Player of the Week and Kajsa Pruner winning a Goalkeeper of the Week.

Van Gundy and the Bears continue the ASUN schedule on the road this week, making the annual Florida trip. Central Arkansas will face Jacksonville today before visiting North Florida on Sunday.
