Gobble gets two wins for Harding

SEARCY – The 15th-ranked Harding softball team won both games of the Great American Conference doubleheader over Arkansas Tech Tuesday. The Lady Bisons won the first game 4-1 and the second game 4-0.

It was Harding’s fifth shutout of the season as it improves to 22-3 overall and 10-1 in the GAC.

Arkansas Tech falls to 12-14 overall and 4-7 in the GAC.

GAME ONE – Harding 4, Arkansas Tech 1

Brooke Johnson’s three-run double in the sixth inning lifted No. 15 Harding to a 4-1 victory over Arkansas Tech.

Johnson’s double, which scored Cameron TimmonsRiley Price, and Alexis Boswell, capped a four-run sixth inning for Harding.

Arkansas Tech took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth when Kacie Gibbins reached on an error, allowing Neveah Wilson to score.

Harding reliever Brooklyn Gobble (8-1) shut down the Arkansas Tech offense in the final two innings, striking out two and allowing no hits.

Avery Booker started for Harding and allowed one run on two hits in five innings.

Alexis Findley (6-4) took the loss for Arkansas Tech, allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings.

GAME TWO – Harding 4, Arkansas Tech 0

Brooklyn Gobble pitched a complete game shutout, leading Harding to a 4-0 victory over Arkansas Tech on Monday. It was her third complete game and her second shutout this season.

The Lady Bisons took an early lead in the first inning, capitalizing on two singles and two stolen bases. Macy Ham led off with a single, stole second, and scored on a wild pitch. Kaya Lee also singled, stole second, and scored on Zoey Neal’s hit.

Harding added two more runs in the third inning. Emma Curry walked and scored on a single by Riley Price, who advanced to second on the throw. Alexis Boswell then singled home Price.

Gobble (9-1) allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out seven. Aly White (2-1) took the loss for Arkansas Tech, allowing four runs on six hits in six innings. 

Harding will travel to Ada, Oklahoma this weekend to take on East Central in a three-game GAC series. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m.
