Fayetteville Shale fund gives $20,000 to students

The Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund awarded $20,000 in scholarships to high school students who participated in the 10th Annual FSSF Bass Tournament at Greers Ferry Lake on April 22. A total of 74 boats went out on the water, with 65 adults and nine high school students competing.

Cole Lamb and Tristan Weaver, both students at Melbourne High School, received the first place $4,000 Angler’s Scholarship. Dylan Watson and Kory England, both students at Spring Hill High School in Hope, received the second place $3,000 Angler’s Scholarship. The third place scholarship, worth $2,000, was given to Chase Richardson of Paragould High School and Cameron Rhoades of East Poinsett County High School in Lepanto. The FSSF also awarded two $1,000 Community Enrichment Scholarships to Grady Inzer and Austin Hewett, both students at West Side High School in Greers Ferry.

The primary focus of the FSSF, a nonprofit organization with members representing companies working in the Fayetteville Shale, is fund-raising activities that will grant scholarship support to students enrolled in the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. Funds raised are used to support student scholarships.
