Harding’s early runs lead to win over Arkansas Tech

SEARCY – Riley Price doubled in three runs to give the Harding softball team a 4-1 victory over Arkansas Tech Tuesday in Great American Conference action.

It was the third game of the GAC series. Harding won the doubleheader at Arkansas Tech on March 12. It was the fourth GAC series sweep for the Lady Bisons this season.

Harding improves to 29-13 overall and 19-8 in the GAC.

Arkansas Tech falls to 22-17 overall and 14-13 in the GAC.

Abby Burch started and got the win for Harding. She improves to 13-5 overall. Burch went 5 2/3 innings giving up one earned run and striking out two. Riley Price earned the save after pitching 1 1/3 innings of relief. She gave up only one hit and didn’t allow a run. It was her fourth save of the season.

Lana Danielson had her fifth multiple hit game, going 2-for-3 at the plate.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Arkansas Tech got on the board in the first inning on an RBI single.

Harding answered back with four runs on three hits and one Arkansas Tech error in the bottom of the inning. Mariana Caro scored the first run for Harding on a Golden Sun throwing error. Riley Price knocked in the other three on her fifth double of the season.

GAME NOTES

–   Arkansas Tech outhit Harding 7-6.

–   Harding had three stolen bases in the game.

–    Aiden Dayberry started and received the loss for Arkansas Tech. She falls to 6-4 on the season.

–    Sydney Keaton led the Golden Suns with two hits.

NEXT UP

Harding will be back in action this weekend as it hosts East Central in a three-game GAC series. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m.
