Sage Borbon led three Mustangs in double figures scoring, joined in that category by Deshawn Corprew and Kyle Harding. CBC was able to win the rebounding battle and capitalize on their opportunities at the free throw line, shooting .875 at the charity stripe (14-16) compared to .583 for OCU (14-24).

GAME FLOW

Jonas Carlisle opened the scoring for CBC with a layup 15 seconds into the game before the hosts grabbed a 4-2 lead in the next 35 seconds. Corprew would tie it back up with another layup on the next possession and it stayed tied at 4-4 until OCU got a layup with 17:32 left in the half to take the lead, 6-4. That would be the last lead for the Mighty Oaks as Corprew’s layup on the ensuing possession tied the score at six and a layup by Borbon gave CBC an 8-6 lead with 16:39 left and they would never trail or be tied again. The lead ballooned all the way to 14 (27-13) with 9:54 left in the half and the Mustangs took a 38-31 lead into the locker room.

The Mustangs opened the second half with a 16-9 run over the first 5:25 and led 54-40 with 14:35 left and the lead reached its largest margin, 16 points, when a layup by Harding made it 67-51 with 9:55 left to play. The Mustangs saw the lead drop to six with 2:55 left, but that’s as close as the Mighty Oaks would get as Borbon scored the final nine points of the game, including 6-8 at the free throw line to ice win number three.
