CBC ends the regular season with run-rule win over Williams Baptist

CONWAY — Looking to win another American Midwest Conference series, Central Baptist College baseball hosted the Eagles of Williams Baptist University this afternoon at Victory Field on Senior Day. Eight seniors and the family of Andrew Killough were recognized before CBC (34-13, 14-7 AMC) run-ruled WBU (27-18, 9-12 AMC) 16-6 in eight innings.

The Mustangs got on the board first, plating three in the first inning on singles by Ruben Hernandez, Austin Teal and Jalen Hicks to make it 3-0 after one. The Eagles scored a run in the fifth to make it 3-1 before another single by Teal moved the lead back to three at 4-1. WBU cut the lead to one, 4-3, in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, CBC blew the game open, scoring six times to lead 10-3 after six. Luke McBride started the scoring with a single followed by a fielder’s choice by Jacori Hicks to make it 6-3. A Hernandez triple pushed the lead to 7-3 and was followed by a single by Ryan Dauphinee and a bunt and wild throw off the bat of Chett McDaniel to make the score 10-3 after six.

WBU would score three in the seventh to cut the CBC lead to 10-6 before McBride and the Hicks brothers took care of the rest. In the bottom half, McBride led off the inning with a home run and Jacori Hicks followed to make it 12-6. Jalen Hicks would then single to center to make it 13-6 after seven. McBride would double home a run in the eighth before Jacori Hicks ended the game with a two-run home run.
