CBC defeats UHSP to get back to .500 in AMC play

ST LOUIS, Mo. – Playing for the third consecutive day, Central Baptist College volleyball was on the court at UHSP Gymnasium this morning for an American Midwest Conference match against the Eutectics of the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis. CBC (12-10, 3-3 AMC) took the first, second and fourth sets to beat UHSP (3-25, 2-5 AMC) 3-1.

Madeline Freeman led the way in kills for the Mustangs with 17 while Molly Murphy led with 25 assists and Mikayla Lawrence posted 24 digs. CBC had 55 kills and hit .199 while holding UHSP to 38 kills and a .122 hitting percentage.

MUSTANG NOTES

  • CBC beat UHSP for the third consecutive time, improving to 5-7 against the Eutectics all-time
  • CBC improved to 5-3 in four set matches this season and 57-60 all-time
  • Freeman, in addition to her 17 kills, also had 17 assists and 10 digs for her seventh career triple-double and second against UHSP
  • Murphy’s 25 assists put her just five shy of 1,800 for her career
  • Murphy also had two aces to give her 86 in her career, moving her into 10th all-time
  • Lawrence now sits 50 digs shy of 1,500 for her career
  • Faith Stone had three total blocks (one solo, two assisted) and is now second in a single season in assisted blocks with 42, just seven shy of the record
  • With the 55 kills, CBC has now moved into ninth on the single-season list at 845
  • The Mustangs also cracked the top-10 in single-season assists, moving into ninth place with 750
  • CBC also moved into the top-10 in single-season digs with 1,328, which puts them ninth
