19 Apr 2023 Barker earns ASUN Pitcher of the Week

CONWAY — University of Central Arkansas right hander Jesse Barker was named the ASUN Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Barker, a junior from Benton, tossed a complete-game shutout last Friday in a 5-0 road victory over the North Florida Ospreys at Harmon Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. Barker allowed just five hits while striking out five and walking none.

Barker improved his season record to 5-2 and dropped his earned-run average to 2.56 (third in the ASUN). He has a team-high 62 strikeouts (second in the ASUN) in 56.1 innings (first in the ASUN), with batters hitting just .199 against him. It was Barker’s second complete game of the season and third of his career.

UCA hosts the Stetson Hatters in ASUN action this weekend at Bear Stadium. First pitch is 6 p.m. Friday.
