Annual ‘Paddle Battle’ Sept. 16 at Fairfield Bay

The Third Annual Paddle Battle at the Bay race begins at the Fairfield Bay Marina at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, and is open to racers of all skill levels.  

There are races for everyone in the family, including a race around Sugar Loaf for the more skilled paddlers, and races around the Fairfield Bay Breakwater for family groups. Ozark Mountain Trading Company is supplying some watercraft for the day’s festivities.

Chow Hall BBQ will be on hand to ease the appetites worked up, and prizes will be awarded in each category.  

Register by calling the Marina at 501.884.6030, or come the morning of and sign up (8 to 8:45 a.m.) with the first race at 9 a.m.

“Paddle Battle has been a lot of fun in years past, and we’re excited to be hosting again this year," said John Conry, marina manager. “Whether you’re a skilled paddler or a novice who has never been in a kayak, we have a race for you. It’s a great event for the whole family”

Race categories include: 
Skilled /advanced racers around Sugar Loaf Mountain
Parent/child combo teams race around the breakwater
Single kayak races for ages 12-17

Prizes for each category:
First – two hour rental of hardtop pontoon with slide
Second – one hour rental on jet ski or CraigCat
Third – Ablegrid waterproof action camera
