Women’s Shelter to host fundraiser

The Women’s Shelter of Central Arkansas will host its annual Risen from Silence fundraiser on Thursday, April 14, at the Brick Room on Front Street in Downtown Conway. This event is celebrating more than 20 years of service to domestic violence victims in the community.

Guest speaker DJ Williams, former Razorback tight end and KARK morning show anchor, will share his family’s story of leaving his abusive, drug-addicted father. There will also be food and an opportunity to meet and mingle with other guests, as well as live music and a silent auction.

Information on how to donate will also be provided at the event.

Supporting the fundraiser will enable the Women’s Shelter to continue providing a safe haven for women and families escaping domestic violence, along with legal advocacy for victims. The Women’s Shelter also offers support groups, rape crisis services and education programs aimed to reduce and prevent violence in the community.

Tickets will also be sold at the door the night of the event for $75 each.
