The administration, faculty and students at Ahlf Junior High School in Searcy recently held its annual Veterans Day Assembly.

The assembly provides an opportunity for all Searcy residents to recognize the sacrifice made by veterans in order to ensure the freedoms that all Americans hold dear.

Principal Gene Hodges welcomed those in attendance. Haven Whitney, student council president, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Searcy Eighth Grade Band played the “Star Spangled Banner.” The orchestra played “Sunburst,” and the choir performed “I Dream A World.”

The Veterans Day Assembly speaker was HMCS (FMF/EXW) Gordon R. Borst USNR (ret). who spoke on the importance of Veterans Day and what can be done to support veterans.

The school district also recognized all veterans in Searcy as well as military personnel who attended.
