03 Feb 2025 Unity Health – Jacksonville adds medical detoxification services for adults
JACKSONVILLE — Unity Health – Jacksonville is now offering medical detoxification services to help adults overcome withdrawal symptoms from drug and alcohol addictions through the New Vision withdrawal management service.

The New Vision service treats adults with a medically supervised hospital stay for inpatient stabilization, which usually lasts three days. The patient is able to detox from a substance in a safe, medically supervised environment.
“We know this need is great, and we want to ensure we are providing the best care for those who seek our resources,” Unity Health – Jacksonville Administrator, Kevin Burton said. “Through this partnership, we want to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.”
New Vision at Unity Health – Jacksonville will provide treatment for substances including opioids (heroin, OxyContin); alcohol; benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax); methamphetamine; cocaine; and combined substances.
Discharge planning will occur prior to leaving the hospital. The patient will be referred to appropriate community-based treatment programs to help prevent relapses and continue their treatment.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with New Vision to help those who are struggling with drug and alcohol addictions,” Unity Health President/CEO, LaDonna Johnston said. “This partnership has been successful at our Searcy and Newport locations, and we are confident it will continue providing excellent care for those on their journey to recovery in Jacksonville and surrounding communities.”
New Vision accepts patients who self-refer: a physician’s referral is not necessary for admission. Patients can only be admitted by a licensed physician and can be admitted five days a week. Unity Health – Jacksonville accepts most major insurances, including TRICARE.
New Vision, a hospital-based medical stabilization and withdrawal management service, is provided through a partnership with SpecialCare Hospital Management of St. Charles, MO, and is currently offered in over 30 hospitals across the United States. SpecialCare has been providing inpatient medical stabilization in collaboration with short-term acute care hospitals since 1992 and is a subsidiary of BayMark Health Services.
