UCA's Camara earns honor

University of Central Arkansas placekicker Eddie Camara was named the Southland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday after the Bears’ overtime victory over Lamar on Saturday.

Camara, a senior from Cedar Hill, Texas, kicked the game-winning 25-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Bears to a 44-41 victory over the Cardinals in his final home game at First Security Field at Estes Stadium. His field goals covered 38, 40 and 25 yards as the Bears improved to 5-2 in league play.

Camara, who earned his third career SLC player of the week honor, was three of four on field goal attempts and five of five on point-after attempts in the victory. The five PATs pushed his school record to 169 for his career. Camara is also second in career field goals (40), second in PAT percentage at 97.2 percent (173 of 178), second in field-goal percentage at 72.7 percent (40 of 55) and third in career scoring with 289 points.
