UCA 'Night of Distinction' set for Saturday includes raffle

An elegant gala that celebrates the “past, present and future” of the University of Central Arkansas is planned during the second annual “Night of Distinction” on Saturday, May 12. Those who cannot attend can still be a part of the event while qualifying to win great prizes.

As part of the fundraising objective for Night of Distinction, UCA will raffle a grand prize 24” x 30” framed original oil painting by Steve Griffith valued at $3,800. Five additional prizes will also be given away.

The other prizes include: six UCA Public Appearances season tickets and a $150 Mike’s Place gift certificate valued at more than $2,500; six upper reserved seating for the UCA Football season tickets and a $150 Mike’s Place gift certificate valued at $810; six Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre season tickets and a $150 Mike’s Place gift certificate valued at $390; a two-night stay at the local Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott and a $50 Outback Steakhouse gift card valued at $250; and a Nook tablet valued at $199.

Proceeds from the evening, including the raffle, will support the renovation efforts that are under way in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of Ida Waldran Auditorium on campus.

Don Bingham, director of special events at UCA, points out that Ida Waldran Auditorium has been the setting for many UCA and high school band, orchestra and choral concerts, plays, dance recitals, political gatherings, pageants and numerous other events. “It has also hosted many well-known and even famous artists, speakers, writers, politicians and celebrities.”

Some of the most noteworthy performances will be re-created during the gala.

Raffle tickets are $10 each or three for $25, seven for $50 or 15 for $100. Tickets are on sale at UCA’s Buffalo Alumni Hall at Bruce Street and Farris Road or online at uca.edu/gala. Tickets will also be available for purchase at Night of Distinction. Participants need not be present to win.
