Toad Suck Daze Run set for Saturday

Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to participate in the 31st annual Toad Suck Daze 5K/10K Run on Saturday, May 3, at Conway High School West at John McConnell Stadium.

This year’s event will feature a new race course through neighborhoods in Central Conway.

Proceeds from the race will benefit a variety of local non-profits – Boys and Girls Club of Faulkner County, CAPCA-Head Start, City of Hope Outreach, Community Connections, Conway Interfaith Clinic, Kiwanis Service Leadership, Conway Athletics, HAVEN (Help for Abuse Victims in Emergency Need), Junior Auxiliary of Conway and the Miracle League.

Over the years, the race has raised more than $330,000 for local charities.

The event includes a 10K Run (RRCA Grand Prix), 5K Run, 5K Fun Walk and Tadpole Trot.

Last year, more than 1,350 registered to participate in the Toad Suck Daze 5K/10K Run.

There were nearly 300 participants in the Tadpole Trot runs for kids. For the fourth year in a row, Conway Christian School had the largest percentage of participants (based on enrollment) in the Tadpole Trot. The winning school is presented with a traveling trophy and $200 for its physical education department.

Online and mail registrants can pick up a racing packet, number and timing chip from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, and Friday, May 2, at The Sporty Runner (1016 Van Ronkle St.) in Downtown Conway; or the morning of the race at the field house at John McConnell Stadium.

Chip timing technology will be used in the run. Participants must wear a race chip to get an official time. Participants registering after 7:30 a.m. will not receive a timing chip and will not be timed.

The 10K and 5K events will begin at 8 a.m., with staggered start times.
