The Wizard of Oz on Nov. 19

Touted as the greatest family musical of all time, The Wizard of Oz is a “magical production,” based on the Royal Shakespeare Company’s celebration of the 1939 MGM movie. It is presented with breathtaking special effects that will sweep audiences away from the moment the tornado twists its way into Kansas. Dorothy, Toto and their friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow are transported “Over the Rainbow” to adventures in Munchkin Land, the Haunted Forest and the Emerald City.

"The Wizard of Oz is a wonderful family-friendly show that will appeal to everyone who is a kid at heart,” said Catherine Markenke, director of marketing and development for the College of Fine Arts and Communication.

“We will have free activities for children starting at 6:30 on the night of the show, and we’re encouraging everyone to come dressed as your favorite Wizard of Oz character. We’ll be making photos of the audience on the Yellow Brick Road in the lobby. It’s going to be a fantastic fun-filled evening.”

Marhenke said 12 local children would perform in the show, which is sponsored by Conway Printing Company.
