‘Step up’ collection day on Friday

Schoolchildren from throughout Faulkner County will deliver money and canned goods to the 501 LIFE office in Downtown Conway as part of the “Step up to the Plate” hunger campaign.

For the third year, 501 LIFE is teaming up with the Arkansas Community Foundation (ARCF)/Faulkner County and local schools to help feed the hungry – presently and for years to come.

For two weeks – Monday, Oct. 31, through Friday, Nov. 11 – schoolchildren have:

Collected money to support a permanent endowment fund to provide financial resources to assist Faulkner County agencies that provide hunger relief.

Collected non-perishable food items for the Bethlehem House homeless shelter.

Between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, the canned goods and money will be delivered to the 501 office in Downtown Conway. Businesses and individuals who would like to participate are also welcome to drop off donations.

Each team that collects a minimum of 500 food items and $500 will have their photograph published in 501 LIFE. There will also be special coverage of the team that collects the most money and canned food based on student enrollment.
