St. Joseph Girls Team named Academic State Champion

St. Joseph High School has been notified by the Arkansas Activities Association that its 2014-2015 Senior Girls Basketball Team has been named the Academic State Champion.

The honor goes to the school with the highest team grade point average across the state. The team’s GPA was 4.16.

“Our teams always strive for basketball excellence each and every year, but more importantly, we strive for academic excellence,” said Coach Chris Kordsmeier. “The team took a lot of pride in their accomplishments and hard work on the court, but they really worked hard in the classroom. I am so proud of the accomplishment.

“What a great award for the girls and St. Joseph High School!”

Principal Joe Mallett added, “I am so very proud of these girls and what they accomplished in the classroom and on the court. They truly exemplify the spirit of true student athletes. They are examples for what all of our students should be striving for.”
