St. Joseph fundraiser

St. Joseph School’s biannual ART Ragin’ Cajun fundraiser will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Parish Hall.

The event began in 2002 to raise money for art supplies and equipment. The Cajun theme was derived from elementary/middle school art teacher Shannon Chamoun because of her background and cooking skills.

Besides serving up such delicacies as crawfish etouffee, gumbo, red beans and rice, jambalaya and seafood fettuccine, patrons can bid on a variety of artistic creations. Many of them have been made by students. Colorful quilts, upcycled furniture, decorative letters and mirrors, Christmas wreaths, clay serving trays, photo transfers and clocks are among the items.

Beyond paying for the classroom needs, the funds also support scholarships, summer camps, drama productions and field trips.
