Spring concert series will mark 20th anniversary of River City Men’s Chorus

LITTLE ROCK — The public is invited to attend one of three free concerts performed by the highly acclaimed River City Men’s Chorus in celebration of their 20th year. Titled “Connections,” the founding conductor and artistic director, David Glaze, will lead more than 50 men’s voices in a performance of music that explores the many ways in which we are connected.

The concerts will be performed at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock. They are planned for 3 p.m. April 14 and at 7 p.m. on April 15 and 18. Everyone is invited, and more information is available at rivercitymenschorus.com.

“There will be no better place to be this spring than in one of the audiences at the final concert of our 20th anniversary season,” Glaze said. “It will be an unforgettable concert that you will not want to miss!”

Since its founding in 2003, the River City Men’s Chorus has seen a few personnel changes, but their goal remains the same: cultural enrichment through the enjoyment of musical excellence.

The group has performed at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican City in Italy, at concert venues in Berlin, Prague, and Vienna, at the Clinton Presidential Center and the current host venue, St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock.

“Bound not only by a love of great music but also by a camaraderie known to few groups, we are strictly a volunteer organization with few or no professional musicians,” Glaze said.

Glaze received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, a Bachelor of Music Education in Choral Music and a Master of Music Education in Choral Music from Ouachita Baptist University. He has performed with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, the ASO Chamber Orchestra and Ballet Arkansas. He is a past recipient of the Arkansas Federation of Music Club’s Outstanding Church Musician of the Year award.
